rimmel's new mascara

I recently picked up Rimmel's Scandal Eyes mascara, because I saw it featured in a magazine (Cosmo? Glamour?  One of the two!) and wanted to give it a shot.  I'm a sucker for a mascara that makes my stumpy eyelashes look long and full, so Rimmel's promise to volumize my lashes to the extreme suckered me in the minute I saw the display in the drugstore.

I really tried to like this mascara, but after a few weeks, I gave up on it.  The formula of the mascara itself wasn't bad... it lengthened my lashes and made them look long and full, but the application process was miserable!  First of all, the brush was too chunky to work with... I ended up trying to remove it from my eyelid on multiple occasions.  Secondly, the brush tends to leave a huge, chunky dollop of product on the end that I had to remove before applying.  Juggling an eyelash curler and a tube of mascara in my hand at 7:00 in the morning is a feat enough... throw a tissue into the mix, and I'm instantly annoyed.

The next pic I took is of the obnoxious wand with the blob attached to the end.  (Sorry for the poor focus.  I had a hard time getting my camera to work!)  Yuck!  Aren't most of us looking for an easier morning routine?

The end result just isn't worth the hassle, especially because I can immediately think of three other mind-blowing drugstore mascaras off the top of my head.  Steer away from this if you see it... you're better off with Mayebelline's Illegal Length mascara if you're looking to try a newer drugstore release.

coral tips

Drugstore collections are bursting with coral!

I recently snagged this beaut of a nail color at Walgreens. It's a gorgeous cream orange that has just enough pink to make it look coral-y. It comes off really orange in this photo I snapped (actually, so does my hand), but the pink-y tinge is what made me fall in love with this color. It's a great shade to add to my collection!

This is the first Loreál polish that I've ever owned, and I really liked it! It wore really well, didn't chip easily, and was opaque and smooth after two coats. It's definitely a polish brand that I plan on investigating in more detail!

I love coral and couldn't be happier about the trend that's bursting onto the scene for spring. What are your thoughts on the coral craze?
